Vallejo in Motions, in 1001 Movements. Movement 1: A Spotlight.

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

You take delight not in a city’s seven or seventy wonders, but in the the answer it gives to a questions of yours - Italo Calvino. Le cittá invisibili, 1972

A short ferry ride form San Francisco and halfway between Berkeley and Napa, away from the main Silicon Valley roads, lies the City of Vallejo, just one of those places of the world that stops you in your tracks and makes you wonder. What is it? What is it in its richly layered history and current unfolding story that makes it so distinct from the surrounding towns and gives it its air of mystery? There is discovery upon discovery to be made in Vallejo.

Tapping into both vibrancy of the Vallejo art community and digital media as a contemporary art form, the Vallejo in Motion* is conceived as a digital media series, and will provide a unique opportunity to engage public on Mare Island and Vallejo proper in a meaningful dialogue.

Featuring art work dedicated to Vallejo in the new media environment with the unique proximity of the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve, one of the places that define Vallejo, expands the show beyond the exhibition space into the nature itself.
